Robots in art graph A rough graph detailing the categories to which robots in art can divide. Some of them have links to artists who work in such field.

Edward Ihnatowicz Late artist who is considered to be a precursor in the field of robotic art. His works may seem nothing impressive these days but those were accomplished in 1960′s and 70′s which for that period was something astounding.

Karel Capek Writer, who is well known for the first use (in the play he has written) the term “robot”. In fact he mentioned that it was his brother who invented that word but then obviously he was the one who used it publicly. The play title was “R.U.R. (Rossum’s Universal Robots)” and the main plot was about androids who initially work for humans but later rebel and such leads to the extinction of human race.

Daily Mail “A robotic performance…” An android used as an actor during the live play. To me it looks more as an elaborative puppetry, as movements were copied in real time by an actual person who was behind the scenes. The same was with the voice. Interesting use but not much innovative especially in terms of technology.

TED: Dennis Hong: My seven species of robots – Presentation of new designs of robots with different types of movement (crawling, three legs etc).

Eyewriter 2.0 Technology of writing with the use of eyes. Hacked PS3′s Eye camera allows writing with the use of eyes only.

NIA game controller Interesting device which allows control within computer environment (like games) by a sole use of brain power.
